Northampton
Northampton es una extensa población comercial y un distrito local de Inglaterra. Está situado sobre el río Nene en el condado de Northamptonshire. En el año 2002 tenía una población de 194,122 habitantes. En el pasado era un conocido centro manufacturero de calzado y otras industrias relacionadas con la piel, pero aunque esta industria todavía es importante, en la actualidad su importancia ha sido desplazada por otros sectores como la ingeniería y el sector de la distribución y financiero.

Ciudad y municipio (pob., 2001: 194.477 hab.) del condado administrativo e histórico de Northamptonshire, en la región de los Midlands en Inglaterra.

Creado en 1100 como ciudad amurallada con un castillo, fue constituida en ciudad en 1189. Durante la guerra de las Dos Rosas en 1460, los partidarios de la casa de York capturaron a Enrique VI en Northampton. Las murallas de la ciudad se conservaron hasta la Restauración inglesa, cuando Carlos II ordenó su destrucción en represalia por haber apoyado a los parlamentaristas. En la actualidad, es un centro de comercio minorista con algo de industria liviana.
